Bible Prophecies Fulfilled – Daniels Predication of the events of the life of Jesus Christ

Daniels Predication of the events of the life of Jesus Christ

This prophecy was written while Israel had been taken captive to Babylon (modern day Iraq), the Jews were looking to God to show them when Israel would be restored, consequently, they received an answer:

“Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

“Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” (Daniel 9:24-27)

This prophecy was brought about in the following way:

  1. The command to build the temple was given in 444 BC (20th year of the reign of the King)
  2. The temple took 49 years to build (seven 7’s which is the number of completion)
  3. 62 7’s later (62 * 7 years) the Anoitned One would be killed.

The calculation works out like this:

Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’

(7×7)=49 years, 62×7=434 years, total = 483 lunar (360 days) years, which is 173880 days.

173880 days must then be converted to solar (365.25 days) years, this gives us 476 solar years.

The command to rebuild the temple was given in 444 BC, so, -444 BC + 476 years = 33 AD (not 32 AD, because 0 BC isn’t a year)

Why 33 AD ?

33 AD is known historically, and biblically as being the timeframe in which Jesus Christ was Crucified, so fulfilling the prophecy:

• Johns Baptism of repentance took place about 29 AD

“In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene – during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.” (Luke 3:1,2)

• The reign of Tiberius Caesar started on August 19, AD 14, which meant that the 15th year was about 29 AD.

If we understand that the same year John was preaching repentance was the same year that Jesus was baptized, then we can calculate from that year.

“When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry.” (Luke 3:22,23)

• The ministry of Jesus lasted about 3 ½ years

According to Scripture, as well as History, Jesus was baptized, about 29-30 AD, being about 30 years old, and His ministry lasted about three and a half years (this is from the times and dates of the Jewish feasts which were celebrated according to a precise calendar  based upon the moon phases etc – see Scriptures John 2:13, 6:4 etc)

So, 3 ½ years from about 29 AD, gives us a date of 32-33 AD (because late 29 AD would produce 33, whilst early would produce 32) If it was late AD, then a final date of about April or May 33 AD would be probable for the crucifixion.

Late (August etc) 29 AD + 3 ½ years = Early 33 AD (about March / April)

30 AD + 3 ½ = 33 AD

So, even differening dates, by about one year can still produce exactly the same year. In researching this information, and checking other calculations, one month and year, whatever the differences kept appearing – April 33 AD.

Solar Activity 33 AD

At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. – Mark 15:33

Also, on a separate note, researchers have found that the year 33 AD corresponds to calculations based on solar eclipse information, when Jesus Christ was crucified.

The Astronomic Observatory Institute in Cluj, Romania claim to have pinpointed the exact time and date of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. They say Jesus died at 15:00 on 0033-04-03 Fr (Friday 3rd, April, 33 AD) and rose again at 04:00 on 0033-04-05 Su (Sunday 5th April, 33AD). They used a computer program to check biblical references against historical astronomical data.

They said the ‘New Testament’ stated that Jesus died the day after the first night with a full moon, after the vernal equinox. Using data gathered on the stars between 26 and 35 AD they established that in those nine years, the first full moon after the vernal equinox was registered twice — on Friday, 7th April, 30 AD, and on Friday, 3rd April 33 AD.

They were convinced the date of the crucifixion was 33 AD, and not 30 AD, because records showed a solar eclipse, as depicted in The Bible at the time of Jesus’s crucifixion, occurred in Jerusalem that year.

Conclusion

“Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ … After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.”

Jesus Christ was crucified exactly when Daniel prophesied, after 483 lunar years (473 solar) from the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple. This is one of the most precise prophecies predicting the exact year of an event found in the Bible.
